Our journey to Uganda has begun, at least in our hearts. Over a year ago now we, Chad and Nancy, travelled with a team of nine others to Uganda, Africa. We went as volunteers to work with an organization - Watoto Children's Ministries and while we were there we helped to build a home for eight orphaned children and their house mother. We also left part of our hearts there.
That was in May 2008. Since we returned to Canada we have been stirred to go back whenever it became possible. Generally speaking no one travels to another country or another part of the world without considerable thought. That has been the case here of course but maybe not how you might think. Usually when you travel a great distance you would give thought to finances, health & safety, and clear objectives when you reached your destination but if you had difficulty answering positively to all of these sensible considerations would you still go? In our case it seems the answer is a resounding yes! Not in a careless, thoughtless manner but instead in a situation that defies the odds; a faith-based, Grace-led, journey of many little miracles.
We are moving forward with travel plans. Reservations have been made to fly on September 2 and return on October 2, 2009. Tickets have to be paid for by the first of August. All funds have to be in place before we depart and so will display one of the incredible miracles in store for us on this journey.
